WhatsApp to Add 15 New Disappearing Messages Durations

Currently, WhatsApp supports three durations for disappearing messages: 24 hours, 7 days, and 90 days. However, the company is working on adding 15 additional durations. These new durations include

  • 1 year
  • 180 days
  • 60 days
  • 30 days
  • 21 days
  • 14 days
  • 6 days
  • 5 days
  • 4 days
  • 3 days
  • 2 days
  • 12 hours
  • 6 hours
  • 3 hours
  • 1 hour

The new update will allow users to set up disappearing messages by choosing a new option from the following 15 durations. This will give users greater control over the messages they send and receive.

The addition of more durations for disappearing messages is part of WhatsApp’s efforts to make the app more secure and private. The company has also added other features to improve privacy, such as end-to-end encryption and the ability to hide your last seen status.

How to use the new disappearing messages feature

To use the new disappearing messages feature, open WhatsApp and go to Settings > Account > Privacy > Disappearing Messages.

Choose the duration for disappearing messages from the list of options. Once you have chosen a duration, all new messages sent in the chat will disappear after the selected time period.

You can also choose to keep certain messages even after the disappearing messages feature has been turned on. To do this, open the chat and tap and hold the message you want to keep. Then, tap Keep in Chat.

The new disappearing messages feature is currently available in beta for Android and iOS. It will be rolled out to all users in the coming weeks.
